Nobody’s Child, Wandering in the Street

(Cover image from UNICEF)

An empty belly,
But eyes heavy
Loaded with tears,
Hope tries to float,
Despite all fears!

So is the heart,
Was safe in the womb,
But fails to feel
Who stranded her
In this bizarre world
Cause no one says
Even in a thousand miles
That “You are my child!”

Hands stretching,
And lips smiling
Just asking for bread,
But she would dance
If someone would hold her
In their arms.

She does not want to grow
Cause her hunger might follow
But prays for the spring to come
So the leaves can settle
Blocking the freezing rain drops
When she sleeps!
