Kaguya-sama is a romantic anime series directed by Mamoru Hatakeyama. This series is produced by A-1 Pictures and was released on January 12, 2018. This series takes place in a romantic world where the one who confesses his/her feelings first is a loser. Or at least, that’s what Kaguya-sama: love is war is trying to say. Adapted from the popular ongoing manga of the same name, Love Is War follows the story of Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, two genius students attending the Shuchin Academy.

They are in love with each other. It’s a basic romance, slice-of-life anime plot till here. But soon the similarities end as the teenage pride, lack of maturity and class consciousness kicks in. Neither Shirogane nor Shinomiya tries to confess their feelings. Rather than expressing emotions and talking things out like real mature adults, Shirogane and Shinomiya try to force each other into submitting into others and make to confess them. This combination of romance and tsundere-ness creates a perfect anime of comedy and psychological thriller genres. It is equal parts hilarious and infuriating for all the right reasons, yet it is still one of the top underrated anime series ever.

Years later, the boy grows up to become a swordsman named Hyakkimaru with a prosthetic body, with swords for arms, and the extrasensory ability to ‘see’ demons. It is a remake of its 90’s original. Adapted from Ozamu Tezuka’s original manga and anime from the late ‘60s, Dororo tells the story of Hyakkimaru’s quest to slay demons, regain his humanity, and learn to love and open up to other people in a time of immense cruelty with the help of his companion, an orphaned thief by the name of Dororo.
